I am very disappointed that the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors propose to drastically change the solar provisions in the comprehensive plan and the zoning ordinance, just approved in 2020. It feels like a waste of taxpayer money to pay for an updated comprehensive plan, then drastically change the current comprehensive plan at the same time.

Solar energy systems are a great temporary use for landowners until a dense housing project is proposed and agreed upon by the landowner, developer, and county which is no small feat and takes many years. I haven't seen high density housing existing on all four sides of any of the solar projects passing through your commission for review, so it doesn't seem an urgent need for the high-density housing. Let's add some temporary solar until the housing usage becomes denser in the County.

I think the areas designated as Urban Service Areas should be reviewed in the new comprehensive plan since very few people want the growth of northern Virginia and Richmond in Augusta County.

The new language just seems punitive to solar in Augusta County.
